It
was announced today that the national funeral arrangements planning
publisher, MCR, of the widely circulated consumer funeral-planning guide Let
The Choice Be Mine has formally joined the growing list of death care
industry companies already participating in the DCIS Alliance.
The
Death Care Internet Services Alliance was begun in early 2005 by its
current director Robert W. Ward, founder of The Final Arrangements
Network, a consumer death care information organization, to address the
millions of consumers looking for quality information about death care,
cemetery property as well as funeral and cremation services using the
Internet.
“We
couldn’t be more pleased that MCR has come onboard. Let The Choice Be
Mine is one of the most thorough and easy to use, personal funeral
planning books we have ever seen. Having such quality experts like author
Cathy Robertson onboard is another example of where we think the DCIS
Alliance is headed.” Said DCIS director Ward.
Ms
Robertson’s company MCR and its website http://www.funeralplanning1.com,
which she runs with the help of death care industry former executive and
husband Ben, publishes and distributes the stunningly easy to use Let
The Choice Be Mine internationally. Thousands of copies of the guide
are in circulation and used by funeral homes, churches, attorneys,
consumers and service groups throughout the world.
Let
The Choice Be Mine was designed with the consumer in mind based upon
its author’s personal observations and experiences with funerals and
loss. “The guide is written in laymen’s terms and the reader realizes
that no one is trying to sell them anything. It’s an attempt to help
those going through difficult times.” Ms. Robertson had explained in an
interview with the Sandpoint, Idaho Bonner County Daily Bee in July
2004, concerning the guide.
Ward
explained how DCIS determines who gets invited to become a member. “The
Alliance’s criteria, to extend a membership invitation, are fairly
specific. We look for death care service companies that serve the consumer
and use the Internet as a key tool in that service. When we first visited
the website at www.funeralplanning1.com and then read Ms. Robertson’s
guide we were stunned at its thoroughness, ease of use and its cost to the
consumer. It was not hard to see why so many funeral directors, clergy and
attorneys were ordering it for their clients and members. We just knew we
wanted Ms. Robertson and her guide in the Alliance.”
“I
am so pleased and honored to have been invited to be part of this
Alliance. The need for people to complete this funeral planning guide
becomes more important on a daily basis as the death care industry is
changing more rapidly than ever before. Awareness of services and products
is key to making informed and rational decisions for the arrangements
following your death. Making these decisions and recording your personal
choices for your family is one of the greatest gifts you can leave for
them. Peace of mind for the family in knowing they have fulfilled their
loved ones wishes has been my personal goal in publishing Let The
Choice Be Mine." Ms. Robertson commented on her publishing
company’s decision to become part of the DCIS alliance.
“It
is Cathy’s passion to provide something worthwhile to the consumer to help with these most difficult of decisions, that let our search committee know we just had to invite her and MCR to join the alliance." Ward commented.

“There
is a real need for synergy in the death care industry and this is the beginning of it.” DCIS's director had said in an earlier interview, explaining why the alliance was begun in the first place.
Ward went on to point out that, “The consumers have already begun
changing their interaction with our industry and we are just trying to
catch up with them.”
“They,
the consumers, expect access to precise information on funeral homes,
cemeteries, cremation, genealogy, obituaries, etc. when they need it. They
have come to know this intensity of information resources are available to
them from everybody else that vies for their patronage. This alliance and
those to come will hopefully satisfy that expectation from the death care
industry.” Ward added.
Members
of DCIS include such Internet high profile companies such as The Final
Arrangements Network, referred to as “the Library of Congress of Death
Care” by one Insurance Company executive, has been providing consumers
with information, guidance and education on funeral, cremation and
cemetery service final arrangements for several years and is the custodian
of the Cemetery Registry database of cemetery property for sale in the US
and Canada by private owners.
Internet
marketing company, New Concept Consultants’ The Cemetery Registry
is also a DCIS member. TCR besides offering final arrangements planning
information along with caskets, urns and grave markers for sale, is also
the official public Internet access to the database, that bears its name.
The Cemetery Registry database itself, through its staff of cemetery
property specialists, maintains oversight on thousands of US and Canadian
registered cemetery properties for sale as well as offers from consumers
to buy. In addition, TCR offers funeral and burial goods for sale
including; caskets, cremation urns, grave markers direct to the consumer.
“We
know Cathy has been very busy just keeping up with the demand for
Let The Choice Be Mine guide. We are tickled pink they could spare
some time to help with DCIS’s mission to inform the consumer.”
Director Ward concluded.
