This Seller Recently
Sent us these thoughts on Selling Cemetery Property and we thought it
was quite insightful and received permission from the Seller to publish
for Owners who may be thinking of selling their own Cemetery Property.
Here are this Seller's comments on the process of selling Cemetery
Property yourself:
1.
Selling cemetery property is not the most pleasant
item to sell given the nature of what they represent.
Most people don't want to think about the arrangements
for their passing. Given that, selling the plots on
line made it a easier task to accomplish.
2.
I liked the fact that email communication made it
easy to see who was serious and who wasn't. I had
three phone inquiries that did not pan out. The
eventual buyer never called me, we communicated only
thru email and spoke for the first time when we met at
the cemetary to transfer the deed. We emailed for
approximately a month before a deal was made.
3.
Final Arrangements was a convenient way to sell the
plots, it was easy to sign up, and when I did have to
communicate with Final Arrangements--the replies were
fast and informative. I would say on a scale of 1 to 10,
the experience was a 10. So thanks very much for making
this service available.
Sincerely,
Rena S. Studio City, CA (last name privacy protected)

Frankly, I didn't
know what to expect from your service - I was pleasantly surprised.
I listed the cemetery lots on your web site in April/May of 2005. I received a phone call the first week in November, 2005 from an
individual seeking two of the 6 lots listed. We arranged to meet
at the cemetery and he bought the next week - all 6 lots. Thank
you Final Arrangements Network for bringing a buyer to me with little or
no hassle.

....We are
delighted to have been asked to comment about your service in selling
our cemetery lots, #269 & #270 in section 11, in Bayview Cemetery.
It is going to be extremely effortless to say positive things about your
service.
First of all, we had advertised in Pensacola daily newspaper several
different times with no responses. We then traveled to Pensacola and
visited many churches leaving small ads for the lots, to be placed on
their bulletin boards. We had no success whatsoever.
It was then that I went on-line and discovered your service for
advertising cemetery lots in your registry for sale. What a godsend,
here was exactly what was needed, an ad that could be viewed by anyone
with computer access looking for lots to purchase. Your price was
more than reasonable and the ad and service was just what we were
looking for. We don't really know where we would have ever found this
type of exposure outside of the service you offered.
You notified us immediately when a prospective buyer showed interest in
our lots and we then received a telephone contact from him and after
several contacts, the lots were transferred to the purchasing party.
We must not be negligent in telling how much we appreciated the
immediate responses we received from you whenever we had to edit our ad.
It was remarkable the speed with which you altered our ad to include
everything we had requested and confirming it with an immediate
notification to us.
All in all, it was a most valuable experience and one that lay persons,
such as my wife and myself, would have never been able to undertake or
achieve the results your service has successfully provided.
So, kudos to you, your staff and your service. Please include us on your
list of very satisfied customers which I'm sure is getting lengthy due
to your invaluable service.

Hello: Wanted
to let you know that I sold two of the six graves I had advertised.
I'm
very pleased and now I would like to change the wording of my ad to read
as follows ....
I was very pleased with your site and the fact that I can advertise to
hundreds of thousands (or more) of people for a nominal fee. I
tried advertising in the newspapers local to the cemetery where my
property was located and it cost more for two days than it did for an
unlimited amount of time on your site. I just placed my ad and forgot
about it. About eight months later my graves were sold to a lady
from the western part of the U.S. who was looking for a final resting
place for her son who had been killed by a drunk driver in the eastern
part of the U.S. Needless to say, she was devastated and went
online in desperation to find someplace that she could bury him and feel
at peace with the decision. (She intended to move east this fall
and wanted her son to be buried near to where she was going to move)
Your site is designed to make it easy for anyone to find exactly what
they want. It's also designed to keep info private that needs to be kept
private. I especially like that feature. Again, thanks for
your site. I still have a lot with four graves to be sold, but I
feel confident that it will also be sold in good time.

The sale of my cemetery lots is now final..... Thanks for listing and
the tips for selling. It took a while but ,the result was positive.... I
recently completed the sale of my cemetery lots that were registered
with The Final Arrangements Network. After some time I became
discouraged at the time it was taking and no sale. I contacted them with
my concern and they responded immediately with some suggestions on
changing the wording in the sale ad. I agreed to and instigated the
changes. After a few months I was contacted by a potential
buyer. After we negotiated and settled on the price the plots were sold.
If anyone has cemetery lots for sale, I recommend that you list them
with Final Arrangements Network. They are very accommodating and quick
to answer questions.

We had the property listed in Roseburg paper and no response. I
found this site by accident in the internet. The sale was all because of
the Cemetery Registry you have. The service was great and you
helped us very much, as I even forgot we had it listed and had the wrong
email address in the site. You contacted us and got the ball going on
the sale. You can use us as a reference.... The sale was all
because of the posting on your site. We are waiting on the check now, as
the Cemetery made a mistake on the deed for the buyer. Needless to
say, we are very happy about your site and the care you did for us and
all the help.

Fate has a way of
doing things for us! My ad was seen by the Grandson of a
gentleman who lived next door to us for 35 yrs. We had moved from
the area and he was looking for cemetery lots in Antioch Oak View
Cemetery for his very ill father-in-law who isn't expected to live out
this month. They have Hospice. His first question by e-mail
was:
1: Did
we still have the lots for sale?
2: He knew of a Stan (Last name withheld by TCR) in Antioch, CA
and wanted to know if we were the same people?
After 15
years we met his wife and mother-in-law and did the exchange of
property. His wife went through school with our oldest daughter. The
man himself used to play with our kids and had gone with us on some
family outings. Small World or what? It made us feel good to
know that it was someone that we knew who was benefiting from this sale.
It saved them quite a bit of money and knowing the family history they
needed a break. Thank you so much for a truly good service. Sincerely,
Shirley

It was on April 4
2003 that I placed my ad in your system. Not everyone wants a
"double crypt" so it was almost two years without a single
call on the phone or inquire through e-mail. Last Saturday after a
couple had been to the cemetery office and found out how big a cost it
was going to be for a "double crypt" went home and
got on the internet to your listings and gave me a call. We agreed
to meet up at the cemetery to look at the crypt and the location. The
price was about half what the cemetery was charging so it was a
good deal for both of us. We closed the sale right there Sunday
afternoon.
You just
have to wait it out until someone comes along that wants your particular
type of plot or crypt. I ran many ads in the local newspaper under
"funeral supplements" and never received a single call in
response to my ads. Thanks for your help in selling our crypt.

I am very
satisfied with the services provided by The Cemetery Registry
regarding the sale of two cemetery plots. The plots were initially
listed April 2004. Didn't get any inquiries until November.
Ironically, most of the inquiries came in pairs, generally one by email
via the registry and one by telephone, usually both having an immediate
need. But, the plots were intended for cremation urn burial so
were too small for casket burial. The lone fifth inquiry in
February 2005 resulted in sale of the plots. However, before the
sale was finalized I received another pair of inquiries, for a total of
seven inquires. You have my permission to edit the above comments as you
see fit, and to share them with visitors to the web site.

funeral arrangements. He had a client with an immediate need that did
want all 4 spaces. The broker took a commission on the sale, but
negotiated the price with his client so that I still got what I was
asking. We concluded the deal with the paperwork on Wednesday and I
received a certified check.

Gentlemen: Thank you so
much for your assistance in selling my cemetery lots. I was about to give up.
Newspaper advertising had not worked at all. The Cemetery Company was no help.
Finally a friend suggested I try the Internet for Companies that might
specialize in this sort of sale. Your fees were so reasonable as to seem
"unreal" compared to E-Bay and others on the web. In no time at all, I
began to receive calls that had eluded me for years. Because your fees were so
reasonable, I was able to sell the property at a very competitive price and
finally get closure on this effort. Many thanks for your important service.

This
is a great service and I hope that more people will realize that your site is
available to those looking for lots. Most people can't afford to advertise
through the newspaper as it is very costly to do so, and it usually takes so
long to sell cemetery lots due to the nature of the item.
If you haven't already, I think you should list this web site with AARP and any
other association newsletters that might draw folks to your site.
However, I believe that the Web Master must be doing something right in keeping
up with the search engine links. Thank you,
